Earlier tonight from the ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington the San Jose based StrikeForce promotion had their second installment of the ShoMMA StrikeForce Challengers series where former EliteXC Middleweight contender Joey Villasenor came back to action after a one year layoff as he took on Evangelista ‘Cyborg’ Santos in the main event and the fight did not disappoint as both fighters not only went the distance, but were able to do what only they can do best which is to stand and trade with one another shot for shot, but towards the end of the third round Cyborg was beginning to tire out and throw air as Villasenor was able to capitalize and do enough to earn the split decision for the victory and putting himself into contention in the StrikeForce Middleweight ranks.

Another bout that was an absolute slugfest was the 160 catchweight bout between former UFC veteran Jorge Gurgel making his StrikeForce debut against Conor Heun also making his debut with the organization and for two guys who are very well known for their Brazilian Jiu Jitsu kept it a stand up affair and was by far the best fight of the night as both fighters landed power shot after power shot and making it through all three rounds. However, in the end it was Gurgel who was awarded the win by unanimous decision to go on top with a successful StrikeForce debut.
